South Pasadena High School’s varsity girls’ volleyball team continued its fine season by sweeping host Monrovia, 25-11, 25-19, 25-20, on Tuesday.
Sophomore Ingrid Zahn’s team-high seven aces and eight kills, and senior Abby Garner’s team-high 10 kills and eight digs helped the Tigers move their record to 6-1 in league (33-6 overall).
Sophomore Jenna Garner recorded eight kills and two aces, while senior Kennedy Taylor and sophomore Helena Foord both had five kills.
Seniors Alyssa Sokolow and Samantha Molina and sophomore Kendall Taylor each added two aces. Sokolow also recorded a team-high 18 digs while tallying two assists.
The Tigers’ superior ball handling was led by Molina and Kendall Taylor, who both posted 17 assists.
Senior Evelyn Dowd added three kills to complete the Tigers’ 39 team kills in addition to her solo block assist.
South Pasadena’s defense did its job as Jenna Garner had 11 digs, Abby Garner tallied eight, and Kennedy and Kendall Taylor both added four. Molina, Foord and sophomore Mia Ramos each had one dig.
South Pasadena hosted league champions La Cañada High (8-0 in league, 28-4 overall) in its regular season finale and lost in five sets on Oct. 13.
