South Pasadena High School’s varsity girls’ basketball team extended its winning streak to six games after sweeping its competition in the 26th annual Gary Houston Classic at El Monte’s Arroyo High School last week.
Senior guard Allysan Tse earned tournament MVP honors while sophomore point guard Dylan Tse and senior forward Alyssa Chan were all-tournament selections.

“It was a good confidence builder for us because we lost the championship game in the Mark Keppel tournament, so we just wanted to prove to ourselves that we are still able to compete at a high level,” SPHS head coach Cody Masden said. “Redondo Union and La Salle are both great teams and to be able to come away with wins in both of those games was great for our confidence because the girls have to believe that they can compete with the best teams in our area.”

In the championship game against Redondo Union High of Redondo Beach (4-5 overall record) on Saturday, Dylan Tse scored a team-high 23 points while her sister, Allysan Tse, registered 13 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore point guard Jamie Rain Kim added six points.
