South Pasadena Youth Commission – Notice of Vacancy

NOTICE OF VACANCY

 PURSUANT TO SECTION 54974 OF THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following vacancies exist for the South Pasadena Youth Commission:

  • Grade 12…………………. 2 vacancies
  • Grade 11………………… 0 vacancies
  • Grade 10…………………. 0 vacancies
  • Grade 9……………….…  0 vacancy
  • Grade 7th or 8th ………….. 3 vacancies
  • Community-at-Large member 1 vacancy

Students on the Youth Commission represent the middle school and high school. They are involved in a variety of activities, such as planning for dances; volunteering for fundraisers; participating in a holiday food drive; and assisting with such special events as Breakfast with Santa, Walk or Bike to School Day, holiday caroling, and the Creative Contest. The Commission consists of eleven youth members, a South Pasadena Unified School District Representative, and a Community-at-Large member. A Member of the South Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education serves as a liaison.

Regular meetings are held every 4th Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Orange Grove Recreation Building Mid-Level, 815 Mission Street South Pasadena, CA 91030.

The term covers the period September 2018 to June 2020.

To serve as a volunteer member, submit a Commission application form available on the web at www.southpasadenaca.gov/Government/BoardsandCommissions or from the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 1414 Mission Street, South Pasadena, CA 91030 (626) 403-7230. Application forms are kept on file for two (2) years.

Applicants must be:

  • in 7th through 12th grades (for youth members only)

This notice was duly posted as required by law.  Final appointment will not be made by the City Council for at least 10 working days after the posting of this notice at the City Hall Public Notices Board and the Public Library.
