South Pasadena Police Department Crime Report

There was a robbery reported at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. The victim, who was seated in a vehicle, said one man — described as Hispanic, in his early 30s with short hair, standing 5-feet-8 inches tall and wearing dark, bulky clothing — approached, demanding the victim’s purse, while a second man — described as Hispanic in his early 30s with short hair and a face tattoo and wearing dark, bulky clothing — used pepper spray to subdue the victim. The men were seen driving a newer dark blue or black sedan.


A Chevrolet Express van was recovered by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Industry Station after it was reported stolen from where it was parked in the 1000 block of Arroyo Drive sometime from 8:31-9:06 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.


Catalytic converters were reported stolen from the following vehicles:
• A Toyota Prius parked in the 1900 block of Milan Avenue sometime from 3:52-4:57 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2
• A Hyundai Santa Fe SUV parked in the 1600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue sometime between 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, and 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6
• A Toyota Prius parked in the 1600 block of Fremont Avenue sometime between 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, and 6:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5


There was an assault reported at 6:32 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue.


There was an assault reported at 11:06 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, near the intersection of Mission Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.


Two men and a woman were seen taking cellphones from a display area in T-Mobile on Huntington Drive at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27. One man was described as being Hispanic, in his 40s and wearing a black hat, red jacket and white shoes. The second was described as Hispanic and wearing a white shirt with white pants. The woman was described as Hispanic, in her 30s and wearing all-black clothing.


A compressed air duster was reported to have been shoplifted from Rite Aid on Fair Oaks Avenue sometime from 3:51-7:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.


Chainsaws were reported stolen from the rear storage bin on a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck parked in the 1100 block of Maple Street sometime from 9-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8.


A bicycle was reported stolen from where it was locked in the 400 block of Monterey Road sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3.


An unidentified motorist was reported to have used a BB gun to shoot at another vehicle while it was being parked at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the 700 block of Brent Avenue. The vandal was described as a black man driving an older Ford SUV.


Mail was reported stolen from a mailbox in the 300 block of Alta Vista Avenue sometime between 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2.


A 31-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested on suspicion of vandalism and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly using spray paint to deface a wall in the 1600 block of Huntington Drive at 4:48 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4.


There was a hit-and-run reported at 1:28 a.m. in the 100 block of Monterey Road.

These alleged crimes and incidents were reported to the South Pasadena Police Department between Tuesday, Nov. 2, and Monday, Nov. 8. Information was gathered from a weekly crime summary published by SPPD’s Crime Prevention Unit.
