South Pasadena police are investigating a traffic collision this morning where one of the cars got thrown onto the curb in front of Shakers Restaurant.

Information was sketchy this morning but what is known is that South Pas fire officials spent about 30 minutes extricating the driver of the red Toyota that ended up perched in front of Shakers Restaurant at 601 Fair Oaks Ave.

The driver was unable to get out of the car and was complaining of chest pains. Fire officials were able to provide aid to the driver through the passenger door, stabilizing her neck with a brace. The driver-side door, however, was jammed shut, forcing rescuers to yank it open. They pulled the woman to safety, placing her on a stretcher. It is unknown if she was taken to a hospital.

Eyewitnesses told police the accident occurred at about 5:45 a.m. when the driver of the red Toyota traveling north at an unknown speed along Fair Oaks Avenue near the 110 Freeway off-ramps collided with a silver Nissan. The female driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The force of the collision caused the red Toyota to jump the curb and land in the vegetation directly in front of Shakers, according to eyewitnesses.

South Pasadena police also responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this accident are encouraged to contact South Pasadena Police at (626) 403-7270.
