Review Appoints New Development Director

Martin Albornoz

Martin Albornoz is joining Gavilan Media – publisher of the South Pasadena Review, the San Marino Tribune and The Quarterly magazine – as director of community development, publisher Charles Champion announced this week.

Albornoz, a longtime resident of South Pasadena, will serve as a connection between the publications and local businesses, helping them better serve readers and build customer bases.

The 48-year-old Albornoz was formerly publisher of the alt weekly L.A. Alternative, and has worked at L.A. Public Media, the Orange County Register, the Times of Northwest Indiana, the Las Vegas Review Journal and Southland Publishing.

“We are extremely thankful that we were able to fill this position with someone of Martin’s extensive experience with the added benefit of him being a longtime local resident,” Champion said.

“Gavilan Media is fully committed to hiring the most experienced and passionate associates that will dedicate themselves to providing the best journalism that a community newspaper can offer.”

Albornoz has coached and refereed his two daughters in many AYSO games in South Pasadena. He also is a co-founder of Dads Uniting Dads in Education and Service (DUDES) and the yearly Main Event Poker Tournament. In addition, he is active on the South Pas High School Boosters.

You can also hear him interviewing local residents on the “South Podsadena” podcast.
