Library Holding Holiday Book Sale

First published in the Nov. 26 print issue of the South Pasadena Review.

The annual Holiday Book Sale sponsored by the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library will be held Dec. 3-5, in the Library Community Room.
On the opening evening, the book sale will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; however, members of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library will be admitted an hour early at 5 p.m.

Shoppers who join the Friends or renew their membership at the door will also be admitted early. No minimum dues are required.
Complimentary giftwrapping will be offered opening night while supplies last.
Sale hours will be from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, and from noon until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5.
Beginning on Dec. 7, the sale will continue for the rest of December in the Friends’ Bookstore, located on the second floor of the Library. The bookstore is open five days a week — Tuesday through Saturday.
“The sale will feature hundreds of donated books in pristine condition,” said Karen Bell, Bookstore co-chair, by email. She also noted that all books are suitable for gift giving.
Bookstore co-chair Karen Weinstock added: “A selection of vintage and collectible books will also be on display,” along with oversized books on art, architecture, travel, classics, children’s books, cookbooks and the latest novels and nonfiction will be sold at the once-a-year sale.
“We have been setting aside the ‘cream of the crop’ books from donations throughout the year,” said Marcia Sainer, who along with Bookstore volunteer Donna Potts and co-chairs Bell and Weinstock organized the sale.
Books will be sold at a fraction of the originally listed price. Many are priced as low as $4. Purchases can be made by cash, check or — for purchases more than $10 — by credit card.
All books have been donated by the public and sale proceeds will go to the South Pasadena Public Library.
