A festive ceremony to light the city’s holiday tree and a menorah will take place at the Farmers’ Market on Thursday, Dec. 2.
“We welcome our community friends of all ages to enjoy the weekly Farmers’ Market and the return of the tree-lighting,” said Laurie Wheeler, CEO of the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. “This year we are pleased to add a menorah lighting to the ceremony, and we’ll enjoy holiday music, carols and dance.”
Wheeler added that face masks are encouraged. Some restaurants and businesses will stay open later than usual for patrons to shop, eat and enjoy South Pasadena.
The tree is a deodar cedar planted by the city of South Pasadena and the Chamber several years ago. Gracing the lawn area adjacent to the South Pasadena Historical Museum, the tree provides shade throughout the year and a festive focal point for the holidays. The South Pasadena Arts Council is taking the lead on decorating the tree with assistance by the City of South Pasadena Public Works Department.

• 4:30 p.m. — South Pasadena Arts & Music musical performance
• 4:50 p.m. — Pointe by Pointe dance performance
• 5:15 p.m. — Old time carolers performance
• 5:30 p.m. — Menorah Lighting by Rabbi Jason Rosner and Tree Lighting by Mayor Diana Mahmud
• 5:45 p.m. — South Pasadena Middle School Orchestra performs
• 5:30 p.m. — Old time carolers will stroll the streets for an hour, heading east along Mission between Meridian and Fair Oaks.
