The South Pasadena High School varsity Tiger football team got a sudden jolt of reality Friday night when El Monte High beat them 59-6 in a non-conference game.
Although the Tigers played hard they were no match for El Monte’s high-powered offense and suffocating defense. The game was played at El Monte High School.
“They were a real quality team,” said SPHS Athletic Director Greg Luna. “They were a better team than expected.”
The Tigers were coming off a dominating performance of their own when they beat Mountain View (El Monte) 35-14 last week. That also was a non-conference game and was played at home in front of about 250 So Pas fans.
