Cookies are needed for hospitalized, homeless, and special needs veterans as part of the annual “Operation Cookie” project to be held on Wednesday, May 23 at the Woman’s Club of South Pasadena, 1424 Fremont Ave.
Volunteers are also needed to help receive and sort cookies, and work on the cookie “assembly line,” where cookies are individually packed into decorative containers labeled with a special thank you to veterans for their military service. Help is also needed to transport cartons of cookies to hospitals and VA Centers.
The cookies will be delivered to patients at Veteran’s Hospitals, the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Camp Pendleton, Military Women in Need, the Jimmy Miller Foundation in Manhattan Beach that provides ocean therapy for veterans, and to homeless and special needs veterans throughout Southern California.
Support is more important than ever for the increasing number of veterans who will be remembered with by “Operation Cookie” for Memorial Day.
Residents may deliver home baked, quality packaged or sugar free cookies (minimum of two dozen) to the Clubhouse at 1424 Fremont Ave. between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 23. The alternate drop off time is the evening before (4 p.m.–7 p.m.).
Convenient curbside service available both days. Financial support for the club is also welcome. For information or to volunteer, residents can call 213-300-9305 or email:spwc1899@aol.com.
