Girl Scouts Troop 4731 showed up at the South Pasadena City Council meeting Wednesday night to support for better gun safety laws.

Camille Wetsel, 11, takes center stage as she asks for a moment of silence for those who’ve lost their lives because of gun violence. The council chamber became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

In fact, Camille Whetsel of Troop 4731, asked for a moment of silence from everyone in the council chambers for those who have been victimized by gun violence, especially those on Feb. 14. That’s when a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The individual, The Review doesn’t identity such cowards, opened fire with an AR-15 style rifle, killing 17 students and staff members while injuring 17 more.

The moment of silence was so effective, you could’ve heard a pin drop from blocks away. The council chamber plunged into what seemed to be a collective silent meditation.

Mayor Pro Tem Maria Dr. Marina Khubesrian congratulated the young women for their courage and intelligence for taking such an important position.

“You have a future in politics,” Khubesrian said to Whetsel.

The Troop listens as Whetsel addresses the council.
