For the first time ever, the Pasadena Humane Society had city officials adopt two kittens during the South Pasadena City Council meeting Wednesday night.
Jack Hagerman, vice president of communications for the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, said this had never happened before and he was pleasantly surprised.
City Manager Stephanie DeWolfe and City Clerk Marc Donohue were so taken with the kittens they pledged to adopt them on the spot.
“I have never had this happen before, and it is truly amazing,” Hagerman said. “They have to still go through the process but these two kittens, who don’t have names yet, have homes. And that’s what this is all about.”
DeWolfe said she just couldn’t let this black kitten go anywhere but to her home. Donohue was equally smitten by his little fella, letting him crawl all over his back and shoulder.
“We are holding up the council meeting,” De Wolfe said with a smile. Hagerman took the little fellas back and the room exploded in applause.
